TFR: The TFR shows the average number of children born to a woman of childbearing age. The replacement level is 2.1. The replacement level keeps the population stable. (not considering population changes due to immigration.) Current TFRs all over the world are decreasing today. Why is this?

  • Contraception
  • Abortion
  • Better health
  • Increasing wealth
  • Better education (in general and especially for women)
  • Delayed marriages (leads to delayed child bearing as well)
